Are you prepared for a long term care event? Long term care is often associated with getting older, but the need for it can happen at any age. Uniformed service members and certain family members are eligible to apply for coverage under the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP). Applying for the FLTCIP prior to needing care can help you prepare for the unexpected, and bring peace of mind to you and your family.
Who's eligible?
Active and retired members of the uniformed services are eligible to apply for FLTCIP coverage. The following family members are also eligible:
Spouses
of eligible active and retired members of the uniformed services
Domestic partners
of eligible active and retired members of the uniformed services
Adult children
of living eligible active and retired members of the uniformed services
Parents
including parents-in-law and stepparents of eligible active members of the uniformed services (Note: Parents, parents in-law, and stepparents of retirees are not eligible.)
